Maisie received her BSc in Zoology from the University of Exeter and went on to complete a Master's in Tropical Forest Ecology at Imperial College London. During her Master's, she used genetic methods to investigate and quantify the diet of orangutans in Borneo. She subsequently worked over 2 years with wild bonobos at several sites in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, collecting ecological and behavioural data. Maisie joined the Pan Lab in September 2024, where her research focuses on population genetics of bonobos to gain insights into their evolution and speciation from chimpanzees.
